France will begin offering free condoms in pharmacies for people ages 18 to 25 to reduce the spread of sexually transmitted diseases, President Emmanuel Macron says

Emmanuel Macron, President Of France

The new health policy, which was introduced on January 1st and was announced by Macron in December, aims to stop the spread of STDs among young people in France.
Aiming initially at people between the ages of 18 and 25, it eventually expanded to include children.

As on January 1, all women will have free access to emergency contraception without a prescription, according to a tweet from government spokesman Olivier Veran on Monday.

French women under the age of 26 have had free access to contraception since January 1, 2022. This included visits to doctors or midwives and medical procedures connected to the contraceptive method they choose.

According to the health authorities' latest estimates, the rate of STDs in France climbed by almost 30% in 2020 and 2021, according to Reuters.

It represents a little revolution in healthcare prevention. It's crucial that our youth act responsibly when engaging in sexual activity, Macron stated in December.
