Although Kylian Mbappé's injury on Wednesday may have alarmed PSG ahead of a hectic month, manager Christophe Galtier indicated he's not very concerned.
The club's 3-1 victory over Montpellier yesterday saw the French superstar substituted in the 21st minute after clutching his knee and thigh after a challenge. Mbappé, though, was able to leave the field by himself.
"Is it a bump? Is there any bleeding? Galtier stated at the news conference following the game. "We're not sure yet. It appears to be not too serious. We are not overly concerned.
Mbappé missed a penalty but was given a second chance by the referee, which led to the injury. The forward then took the penalty kick again, but this time it was saved and went off the crossbar. He then missed a clear shot off the rebound with plenty of space in front of him.
The defender Sergio Ramos also departed the game in the first half owing to injuries before he finally hobbled off the field. However, PSG moved out to a five-point lead atop the Ligue 1 league before a busy schedule thanks to a goal from Lionel Messi.
The French powerhouses will play two league games, take on rival Marseille in the French Cup, and then begin their Champions League campaign with a showdown against German champion Bayern Munich in the round of 16, raising concerns that Mbappé may not be at full strength.
