TRENDING: UTAG threatens to call off strike over car maintenance and off-campus allowance

In order to enhance their working conditions, the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) and the other three (3) labor unions at the several public institutions in Ghana are requesting that the government pay for vehicle upkeep and off-campus allowance.

The other unions are the Senior Staff Association of Universities of Ghana, the Tertiary Education Workers Union of Ghana, and the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA) (SSA-UoG).

These labor unions claim that the government has planned to selectively apply the same conditions without their consent, and that this has resulted in their working conditions being excessively diversified at their expense.

Prof. Solomon Nunoo, the national president of UTAG, said during a news conference in Accra that they have given the government one (1) week to respond to their demands or else they will stop providing services at all public universities in Ghana.
