Gennaro Gattuso Has Been Sacked As Valencia Head Coach

On Monday night, Gennaro Gattuso parted ways with Valencia, becoming the tenth coach to do so in the previous nine years.

The Italian was fired by Lim in 2016 after losing three of his last four league games. He had only managed 22 games, six fewer than Gary Neville.

In command of Thursday's league match against Real Madrid is club delegate Salvador Gonzalez "Voro," who was appointed by Lim, who took over Valencia in October 2014. In the Lim period, this will be his sixth time acting as caretaker.

Valencia has only won one of their previous ten La Liga games, and last week, they were eliminated from the Spanish Cup. At the beginning of the season, when Gattuso seemed to have introduced an attacking style of football to Mestalla, there were great expectations.

But he was worn down by injuries, subpar performances, and what he perceived to be a lack of support from the ownership. This has been the impossible job in Spain for a while.

Following Valencia's 1-0 loss to Valladolid on Sunday, Gattuso met with club president Layhoon Chan on Monday afternoon. In his 22 games, Gattuso had seven victories, five ties, and 10 losses.

Additionally there was Valencia's technical director Miguel Angel Corona, and Gattuso is rumored to have repeatedly pleaded with Valencia to add players before the transfer market closes this week.
