President Trump Signals Potential Reengagement with World Health Organization

 


According to Trump, America might consider going back to the WHO after initially withdrawing from the unit a while back. This claim was made around the same time an executive order was issued for the withdrawal procedure. 


Withdrawal Overview 


Due to global issues pertaining to health such as the COVID-19 pandemic, Trump was not satisfied with the manner in which the WHO operated and managed those crises. On the 20th of January, in the year of 2025, Trump had released an executive order that examined America’s withdrawal from the WHO. 


Rejoining Considerations 


While working at a Las Vegas rally event, President Trump hinted at the fact that the US had the potential to return back to the WHO if certain reforms were established. He highlighted that there is a large disparity in the financial contributions from America and China with his argument that although America contributes much more to the organization’s budget relative to the population of China. 


Trump stated, ‘Perhaps we would be open to it’, showcasing that the prospect of returning is dependent on the WHO rectifying the problems raised prior by Trump.
